MOTHER's DAY GIFTing

Featuring the Tea Baggie Builder

With Mother's Day around the corner, we'd love to know, how do you spoil your momma?

A fancy dinner out? A beautiful piece of jewelry? Perhaps a gift from the heart?

Around here, we get pretty excited to roll up our sleeves and dive into some DIY projects. Well, this is true for ANY occasion, but we couldn't pass up this opportunity to bundle up our coordinating pretties into a Momma's Day DIY gift.

Cup of Te, an organic tea company based in Canada, which recently landed on Oprah's Favorite Things list, is the PERFECT addition to our little baggies.

With just a few of our products on hand, you can do the same! Let us show you how.

START WITH

Our Tea Baggie Builder. These dies are SO versatile and fun to play with. Of course, we've used them as intended, to make a few tea baggies with our custom tea blend. You can watch a step-by-step video of some of the other tea baggies we've made here. But as you'll see below, our projects today feature many different ways to play up this set. Read on for a quick recap of how to use these fun designs.

WAYS TO USE

1

Make A CARD

Big and bold florals make it easy to add an accent to your cards, without a lot of fussing. We love that the florals can be stitched or used as-is!

2

Create A TAG

The flowers, leaves, circles and hearts make for adorable shaped tag creations. You can use these tags to dress up boxes, baggies, or parcels. The choice is up to you!

3

Dress a POCKET

Add a fun shape to a pocket, and adorn with other accent stamps. Then use the pocket to tuck in a tag, a bookmark, or anything you can dream up!

A TIP

Cardstock is not the only way to have fun with dies! To add an extra special touch to your die-cuts, why not give painting a try? We're rocking three techniques today - watercolored  flowers, alcohol ink leaves, and our favorite - gouache accents on the dark leaves. It's a favorite medium around here and we're crushing HARD on this technique. If you're new to gouache - it's a paint medium that's just the right consistency between acrylic and watercolor, which ensures a smooth flow and opaque coverage that we love.

CLOSER LOOK

Once your diecuts are ready for action, there are so may ways to add detail with other items from our shoppe! Let's take a peek at them in detail.

To dress our card, we've used both a Spring Floral bloom (now back in stock!), and some Pocketful of Joy greenery, layered atop some peachy ink blending. For the tags, a few painted paper stripes and sentiment accents using our Tea Cup set and our Dashing Sentiments set.

If you look closely, you'll also see a couple of fun patterns! The first - a floral strip on the box - was created by stamping up the tiny outline floral from our Blooming Teapot set colored up with gouache. Just below that, we have a Pocketful of Joy background which we stamped in white, and colored in with a white gel pen for a super vibrant look. To get the same look, we recommend our favorite brand of gel pen, which you can find here. And our favorite sparkly sequins here.
